Changes to Colts Draw

Outcome of the meeting of 2012 Division 5 Colts Clubs at the Golf Victoria Office on Tuesday March 6th

Following a meeting of 2012 Division 5 Colts Clubs at the Golf Victoria Office on Tuesday March 6th, it was determined that the preferred draw format to be used for the 2012 season involves all ten clubs playing each week over seven rounds of contests.

This format was preferred because it maximized the number games colts players would play, even though each club would not be able to play each other club.

Four contests will be staged at the Division 5 Men's Pennant venue, while one further contest will be staged at the Division 6 Men's Pennant venue.

The two leading teams following the completion of the seven rounds of matches will progress to the Division 5 Colts final on Sunday May 20th.

For the opening round of the season on Sunday March 18th, four Division 5 Colts contests will be staged at Whittlesea during the morning while Riversdale has kindly offered to host the one extra Colts contest beginning at 7.45am. A revised draw is attached.

Following discussion of various issues at the meeting, the revised draw contains the following features: -

  • All clubs have the honour either 3 or 4 times out of the seven contests
  • Early/Late hit-offs and 1st/10th starting tees have been balanced as well as possible
  • The six clubs having a home course advantage for one contest each will play an 'away' contest (opposing a home club) during the seven rounds played
  •  The three clubs with men's teams in Division 6, have been allocated a minimum of two contests each at the Division 6 venue (stand alone Div 5 Colts contest). It is hoped this will assist with transport of players and club supporter convenience during those rounds.

Golf Victoria greatly appreciates the input provided by the competing Division 5 Colts clubs and trust the amended draw is satisfactory. Should any club have any further issues with this revised draw, please contact the Golf Victoria Office as soon as possible, but no later than 12noon on Friday March 9th.
Yours sincerely,
David Greenhill
