Hole 4

fourth hole panorama

The fourth hole is considered by many to be the signature hole of the course, where the view from the highest point of the locality and the challenging one hundred and fifty two metre shot make the hole truly memorable.

The tee is protected from westerly and northerly winds by the surrounding bushes and trees and gusty easterlies swirl around the tee making it hard to predict the flight of the ball.  A high-lofted shot is required in order to hold the green, however it's these very shots that are driven off course by the wind.

Balls that float left end up in very challenging rough and you will be chipping "against the grain" hoping for a clean flop shot that lands on the edge of the green and rolls down to the hole.

Balls that float right will disappear into the rough under the trees, where you will be lucky if you land in a spot with a clear view of the green.  Short balls will land in rough or in the large bunkers around the hole and long balls will land in the deep pot behind.  Enjoy!
