Local Rules


 OUT OF BOUNDS – (Rule 18.2) 

The out of bounds is defined by the line between the course-side points at ground level of white posts with black tops, the fence around the dam and all boundary fences. 


Relief must be taken: 

  • Ground Under Repair is marked with a white paint border (either with or without a GUR sign) is a NO PLAY ZONE that is to be treated as an abnormal course condition.
  • GARDEN BEDS adjacent to the 1st/10th tee with a brick border, the Parklands Garden (the area covered in woodchip) left of the path between the 2nd/11th Green and 12th/13th Tee are NO PLAY ZONES.
  • STAKED TREES & STAKED SHRUBS are NO PLAY ZONES and are ground under repair (the GUR includes that stake and any wrapping.)  

Relief may be taken: 

  • PATHS – Artificially surfaced and gravelled paths are immovable obstructions.
  • IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS – Wooden fence behind the 8th/17th green, the pine pole in front of the 8th/17th tee and behind the 9th/18th green, and the protective screens on the LHS of the 6th/15th and the LHS of the 7th/16th tee.
  • STEPS IN BUNKERS are defined as immovable obstructions. 


SCREENS & SUPPORT POLES - The screen on left hand side of the 5th/14th fairway adjacent to the Cheltenham Football ground is an integral object. 


Rule 16.1b applies to immovable obstructions close to putting greens. In addition to the types of interference as described in Rule 16.1a, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the players line of play, and is within two club-lengths of the putting green, and is within two club-lengths of the ball. (Exception – there is no relief under this local rule if the player chooses to play a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.) 


Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the general penalty (stroke play – two strokes, match play – loss of hole. 



Effective from – 12th June 2019 

  • Hoses and sprinklers on the 8th/17th & 9th/18th are not to be stopped or moved. These are to be treated as an Immovable Obstruction.
  • Irrigation works on the 8th/17th and 9th/18th fairway is to be treated as G.U.R. and is a No Play Zone, nearest point of relief must be taken.
  • Wood chipped area on the left hand side of the 3rd/12th between the OOB fence and the path IS NOT Ground Under Repair and is IN PLAY.
    If your ball comes to rest in this area the ball is to be played as it lies.
  • Animal Tracks in bunkers are to be treated as abnormal ground condition and relief may be taken as per Rule 16.1(c). 



  • Flag must be removed before retrieving your ball from the hole after holing out
  • Rakes in bunkers to be placed in the middle of bunkers facing the direction of play
  • When filling divots the sand is to be smoothed over, NOT mounded
  • Avoid slow play by keeping pace with the group in front
  • Low Marker is each group to ensure your group is moving quickly
  • No golf carts to be driven within 10 meters of the greens and/or bunkers
