Discontinuation of all Non-Essential Gatherings

On Sunday 22nd March the Prime Minister and the Chief Medical Officer announced significant new restrictions relating to gatherings and this information is available on the Dept of Health website.

From lunchtime Monday 23rd March, this entails the temporary closure of registered and licensed clubs (excluding bottleshops attached to these venues), pubs, hotels (excluding accommodation), gyms, indoor sporting venues, cinemas, casinos, entertainment venues, restaurants and cafes (which will be restricted to take away and/or home delivery), places of worship, weddings, funerals (other than very small groups with the 4sqM per person rule to apply).

All of these restrictions apply to outdoor spaces associated with the above venues.

Cheltenham Golf Club is a registered and licensed club and accordingly, will temporarily close the clubhouse, verandah and forecourt and bar service will cease.

Members are asked not to congregate after playing golf and to follow the social distancing guidelines.

Access to the locker rooms and toilets will still be available via the side doors only.

We are seeking clarification around how this may impact the Golf Course and ProShop but for the moment both will remain open.

Competition golf will continue this week however in the weeks following we may revert to social golf only.

Members are asked to mark their own cards, which can be handed in at the Proshop at the end of the round. We will be introducing a miclub app for scoring in the near future to reduce card handling, further details to come.

Drink taps on course have been disconnected, please ensure you bring enough water with you for your round. Drinks are still available in the Proshop for purchase.

Previously shared resources (ie Sunscreen) are no longer available, so please bring your own.

Presentations will cease, however prizes can be claimed from the Proshop from the following day onwards.

Rakes will be removed from bunkers and a preferred lie may be taken in the bunker.

Flags are to be left in the hole while putting. A piece of foam has been installed at the base of the cup to reduce the depth of the hole, this makes it easy for golfers to hole their ball but still fetch it out without touching the sides of the cup.

We wish to remind members and visitors that our number one goal is to ensure our Club remains operational, in some capacity, for as long as possible. We are taking every practical measure possible to ensure that this remains a reality however we acknowledge that we face uncertain times.

Please note that the website will be updated regularly in respect to further changes and Members are encouraged to check before attending the Club.

We thank you for your ongoing support, understanding and patience during this time.

Please be aware that the circumstances surrounding  COVID-19 (Coronavirus) are changing rapidly, so we recommend regular monitoring of the Australian Government Department of Health website.
